Big Changes Afoot For Gem DeMilo 💙
Hello to all my dear friends, followers and subscribers,
It's definitely been a chaotic and literally life changing few weeks. As many of you know, I left my hometown of Chicago in November of 2021. After staying with family in Florida for a few months, I moved to North Carolina. What you may not know is that, while I considered Charlotte to be my main work city, Asheville was where I called home for the past two and a half years. It is literally the only other city I've ever called home in my life. I am one of the fortunate ones; my home out there sustained no flooding or major damage due to Hurricane Helene. However, there are so many out in Asheville and in the surrounding areas who were not so lucky and have lost everything.
Which brings me to my announcement...
After much thought and consideration, I have decided to move back to Chicago. Someone out in Asheville needs my home there more than I do right now, and I have the ability to relocate while many others don't. I wasn't expecting to move back to The Windy City so soon (or maybe even at all). But after everything I have been through with this, being in a familiar city surrounded by friends and family feels right. This move may be permanent. This move may just be for the next couple of years. That's the part I can figure out later. But for now, I am feeling optimistic, excited and at peace about returning to the one and only city that will forever be home in my heart.Â
I plan to return to North Carolina next week to be able to gather as many of my things from my home as I can. I plan to try to donate some furniture and clothing to people and organizations in need while I am there. Upon my return I will be putting together housewarming wishlists on Marigold and Amazon to those who would generously like to offer helping me rebuild and set up my new home in Chicago.Â
I plan to fly into CLT and drive to Asheville from there, and I may have limited time for a cocktail or dinner date while in Charlotte the week of 10/20. If this is of interest to you, please get in touch with me asap at gem@professordemilo.com with the date(s) and time(s) you have in mind. Again, my time will be extremely limited while there so it's imperative that you prebook as soon as possible.
I am also going to be reinstating my prepay in full special for my subscribers to help raise some funds for this move. While I am fortunate enough to have the means to relocate, as I'm sure everyone who's been in a similar situation knows, every little bit helps when it comes to moving. If you prepay for your booking in advance, I will honor it for up to six months of receipt of payment (only one rescheduling with 48+ hours notice is allowed). This means you can pay now and book down the line if you so choose. This is good for any Chicago based, touring, drive or fly me to you*

Tours to Boston, Florida, Indianapolis, Philadelphia and NYC are currently in the midst of being reconfigured. I will be in touch with all those who have already prebooked soon if rescheduling is needed.Â
I will be taking appointments sporadically in Chicago for the time being. Priority will be given to established clients and/or extended bookings. I will only be available with advanced notice. I plan to return fully and have more availability by November 15th. More details and specificity will be announced on social media.Â
Finally, if you can donate to one of these grassroots organizations in Western North Carolina to help in the hurricane relief efforts, it would make my heart so happy. I know times are still tough and uncertain for all of us, but every little bit helps in what will likely be a multi year long recovery.
This is where I adopted my sweet kitty boy and it was completely destroyed due to the hurricane
As always, and especially now, thank you so much for your continued support as I navigate this unprecedented event and unexpected life change.
All My Best,
Gem DeMilo
